Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman revealed on December 22 the latest developments of Apple's highly anticipated "Apple Glasses" (also known as Apple Vision). This product, seen as the core driving force for Apple over the next decade, is planned to be officially unveiled by the end of 2026 and is expected to start shipping in 2027.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has classified this project as the company's "highest strategic priority," and he is currently devoting almost all his energy to it, aiming to create a benchmark product that fully surpasses Meta. Cook's ultimate vision is to develop a true AR glasses that is lightweight and can be worn all day, seamlessly overlaying data onto the real world.

However, due to current technological trade-offs, the design concept of the first generation of Apple Glasses will prioritize lightweight. The product is initially positioned as an "iPhone smart accessory" similar to the Apple Watch, with its core selling points focusing on the Siri voice assistant and AI intelligent experience, rather than visual overlay augmented reality features.

Although the first generation product is restrained in visual technology, it is considered a crucial cornerstone for Apple's ultimate goal. Through Vision Pro, Apple has already established a software ecosystem for "spatial computing"; and through Apple Glasses, Apple will challenge the limits of lightweight hardware, completing a smooth transition from heavy headsets to everyday wearable devices.
