With the explosive growth of global artificial intelligence technology, the semiconductor industry, which is at the upstream of the industrial chain, is experiencing an unprecedented boom. According to South Korean media ETNews, global memory giant Samsung Electronics plans to issue extremely generous performance bonuses to employees in its Semiconductor (DS) division in early 2026, with the amount expected to reach 43% to 48% of their annual salary.

This figure is astonishing not only because of its large amount but also because of its rapid growth—this is more than three times the 14% performance bonus given in 2024. The strong recovery of Samsung's semiconductor business is mainly due to the surge in demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and DRAM. Currently, Samsung has made key breakthroughs in cutting-edge technologies such as HBM3E and has successfully secured supply orders from AI giants like NVIDIA.

In addition to the pull of the AI field, Samsung also maintains a dominant position in the consumer electronics supply chain. It is reported that Samsung has become the main supplier of LPDDR5X memory chips for Apple's next-generation iPhone17 and future iPhone18. This "AI + core customer" dual drive brings significant profit expectations, with Samsung's operating profit expected to reach a high of $73 billion in 2026.

Notably, the internal bonus distribution also reflects the weight of different businesses. Although the semiconductor department performed outstandingly, the Mobile Experience (MX) department responsible for smartphone business is expected to have a higher bonus ratio of 45% to 50% due to stable performance. In contrast, bonuses for traditional business departments such as home appliances and televisions remain at the conventional level of 9% to 12%.

Key Points:

  • 💰 Significant Bonus Increase: The performance bonus ratio for Samsung's semiconductor department in 2025 is expected to reach 43%-48% of annual salary, representing an over-threefold increase compared to the previous year.

  • 🧠 AI Dividend Drive: The performance surge is mainly due to breakthroughs in advanced memory technologies such as HBM3E, as well as successful entry into the AI hardware supply chain.

  • 📱 Major Customer Support: Samsung has secured high-end memory orders for Apple's iPhone17/18, further consolidating its revenue advantage in the mobile device supply chain.
