Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance issued a notice titled "Regarding Including AI Smart Glasses in the Consumer Subsidy Pilot Program," officially incorporating AI glasses into the national consumer subsidy scope. This marks the first time that cutting-edge smart hardware like AI glasses has been included in the national subsidy system, indicating a new phase of policy support for the wearable device industry.
According to the notice, starting from the first quarter of 2026, consumers who purchase AI glasses products that meet technical standards through designated channels can enjoy a government subsidy of up to 15%, with a maximum subsidy of 800 yuan per unit. The initial brands included in the subsidy list are leading domestic companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi, Rokid, and XREAL. The products must have core AI features such as real-time voice interaction, visual assistance, and health monitoring, and must pass the national AI product certification.

The relevant officials from MIIT stated that AI glasses, as an important carrier of "human-computer integration," are gradually demonstrating application potential in fields such as medical assistance, industrial inspection, elderly care, and education. This subsidy aims to lower the consumer experience threshold, accelerate technology adoption, and promote coordinated development along the industrial chain.
Industry analysis indicates that the AI glasses market has seen rapid growth in recent years. According to the latest data from IDC, the shipment volume of AI glasses in China increased by 112% year-on-year in 2025, and is expected to exceed 2 million units in 2026. The implementation of this policy is expected not only to further stimulate consumption but also to guide companies to increase investment in key technologies such as optical display, edge computing, and multimodal interaction.
Li女士, a Beijing resident, said after learning about the subsidy policy: “I used to think AI glasses were too expensive, but now with the subsidy, I plan to buy a pair for daily navigation and translation, especially suitable for someone like me who enjoys traveling alone.”
Experts predict that as the subsidy policy gradually expands to pilot cities across the country, AI glasses will rapidly transition from a "geek toy" to a common daily tool, ushering in a new chapter in the "spatial computing" era.
