At the recent "2026 Consumer Electronics Show" (CES), Ryu Je-myung, the Second Deputy Minister of South Korea's Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology, revealed that the U.S. tech giant NVIDIA has pledged to prioritize supplying the next-generation Vera Rubin graphics processing units (GPUs) to South Korea. The conference was held in Las Vegas, and Ryu Je-myung received this commitment during a visit to NVIDIA's headquarters in the United States.

Ryu Je-myung noted that NVIDIA has promised to provide the Blackwell GB300 GPU ahead of schedule and to prioritize the supply of the Vera Rubin series GPUs planned for mass production in 2027. He emphasized that it is crucial to maintain a leading position in the competition for artificial intelligence models by utilizing the latest GPUs, making such a commitment particularly significant.

It is reported that NVIDIA recently announced a plan to supply up to 260,000 GPUs to South Korea in collaboration with the South Korean government and major companies, to support the establishment of large-scale artificial intelligence factories in South Korea. This project is expected to promote technological development in the field of artificial intelligence globally.

At the CES exhibition, Ryu Je-myung also shared his experience of testing an autonomous vehicle and pointed out that competition in related technology fields is becoming increasingly intense. He stated that without a competitive artificial intelligence foundation, products and services in areas such as autonomous driving, robotics, digital healthcare, and smart homes will struggle to survive.

Ryu Je-myung emphasized that South Korea must increase investment in artificial intelligence technology to ensure a leading position in future competition.
