Samsung Electronics has recently officially announced an ambitious manufacturing transformation plan: upgrading all of its global production systems to "AI factories" by 2030. In this transformation, Agentic AI (Agent AI), which has the ability to make autonomous decisions, has been established as the core driving force, aiming to achieve full-chain autonomy from raw material entry to final product shipment.

The comprehensive intelligence of the manufacturing system:

  • Full-process autonomy: Unlike traditional automation, Samsung's "AI factory" emphasizes deep involvement. AI will independently plan and execute in key areas such as production scheduling, quality monitoring, and logistics management, significantly improving production consistency and process efficiency.

  • Digital twin empowerment: Samsung will deploy a digital twin simulation system, using specialized AI agents to accurately predict and optimize through real-time synchronization between virtual factories and physical production lines.

  • Robotization of high-risk operations: For environments that are difficult for humans to access or are high-risk, Samsung will deploy environmental safety robots combined with digital twin technology, responsible for real-time monitoring and eliminating potential hazards.

Notably, the core technology behind this manufacturing transformation originates from Samsung's experience in mobile devices. Samsung emphasized that the Agentic AI technology first introduced in the Galaxy S26 series is the cornerstone of this transformation. This agent technology, capable of autonomously planning paths and optimizing decisions, is currently expanding from personal mobile terminals to the industrial manufacturing field, building an industrial-level agent system with on-site autonomy.

In the future, Samsung's production lines will feature clearly defined robot groups, including operation robots responsible for line maintenance, logistics robots handling material flow, and assembly robots performing precision manufacturing tasks.
