Silicon Valley renowned billionaire and early investor of OpenAI, Vinod Khosla, recently made a series of shocking predictions in an interview. He believes that the explosion of artificial intelligence technology will completely rewrite the logic of how human society operates. By around 2030, 80% of jobs worldwide could be completed independently by AI.

Khosla pointed out that as AI replaces labor on a large scale, labor costs will approach zero, leading to a significant drop in the prices of goods and services. He painted a future of a "deflationary economy": by 2040, the purchasing power of $10,000 to $30,000 might be sufficient to surpass the current $100,000. In this context, a five-year-old child today may not need to seek traditional employment for survival once they grow up.

Khosla's core viewpoints include:

  • The Arrival of an Army of Robots: About 1 billion bipedal robots will be put into use within the next decade, becoming cheap and efficient automated labor.

  • Rebuilding the Education System: As AI can perform roles such as accountants, salespeople, and radiologists, traditional college degrees will no longer be a "survival necessity." General education will become free, and people will learn purely out of "passion."

  • GDP Becomes Meaningless: When production costs plummet and goods become extremely abundant, traditional GDP indicators will no longer accurately measure a country's economic success.

This view aligns with that of the world's richest person, Musk. Musk had previously predicted that with the help of AI and robots, human labor would become an "optional" rather than a "mandatory" aspect, allowing people to farm for enjoyment rather than for survival.
