While the global workforce is still anxious about whether "AI will take entry-level jobs," social media giant Reddit has given a completely different answer. Reddit CEO Steve Huffman recently publicly stated on a podcast that Reddit not only will not cut costs, but plans to hire a large number of recent graduates, as they are the true "AI-native generation."
Huffman believes this group of graduates has an inherent competitive advantage. They have deeply used AI to learn programming and handle tasks since their university days. This natural "human-machine collaboration" ability gives them high productivity value when entering the workforce.
"Top talent won't wait — it's gone if you don't grab it."
In Huffman's view, hiring recent graduates is a race against time. He stated that the most outstanding graduates, if not hired immediately, may never appear on the job market again in the future. Because their value will be quickly recognized, and they will directly enter higher-level career paths.
This optimistic attitude contrasts sharply with the general "pessimistic predictions" in the tech industry. Previously, the CEO of Anthropic warned that AI could cause half of entry-level white-collar jobs to disappear within five years. However, Reddit insists that even if AI can increase engineers' efficiency tenfold, the company will choose to "do ten times the work," rather than cut staff to do the same work.
Although Reddit has sent a positive signal, the current job market remains challenging. According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in February 2026 has risen to 4.4%, with 7.6 million people unemployed. In this environment where companies are slowing down hiring due to AI transformation, Reddit's "expansion order" undoubtedly serves as a strong encouragement for young professionals.
Currently, Reddit has established a dedicated team for emerging talent, opening full-time positions across engineering, sales, product, and more, and has launched an internship program called "Snooterns" for machine learning. For Reddit, betting on the "AI-native generation" is not only to fill job vacancies, but also to seize the talent high ground in this technological transformation.
