After TikTok's internal testing of the "AI Interactive Space," Kuaishou has officially announced the launch of an "AI Interactive Content" creation feature, which is now open to a first batch of collaborating creators, marking the competition among short video platforms extending from traditional content duration to interactive experience areas.
According to Dujia, Kuaishou's recruitment targets creators with interest or experience in AI interactive plots, AI character dialogues, and interactive lightweight applications, requiring the ability to continuously update content. Selected creators will get early access to the creation tools, directly collaborate with the platform team to refine the product, and the platform will also launch an AI interactive content co-creation plan.
AI interactive content is built on large models, allowing users to actively participate in the content's direction through text input or option selection, breaking the traditional one-way transmission model of short videos. The current mainstream forms are divided into three categories: AI character dialogues enable virtual companionship and role-playing; branching interactive plots allow users to make decisions to unlock multiple endings; and AI interactive lightweight applications integrate scenario experiences and fun tasks. Compared to regular videos, its strong revisit attribute can effectively extend user dwell time.
Industry analysts believe that Kuaishou's move is a critical step in the context of saturated competition in short video. Currently, the total user time across the network has entered a state of saturation, and the space for increasing average user time through short videos and live streams is gradually narrowing. AI interactive content adds a new set of "playable content" within the platform, upgrading from "watching videos" to "playing content," which can not only capture users' fragmented time and improve retention but also provide interaction data to improve recommendation algorithms. Additionally, this is a natural extension of Kuaishou's multimodal capabilities centered around Kuaishou's Qilin AI.
However, this field is still in its early stages, with issues such as awkward AI dialogue, homogenized plots, and immature user consumption habits yet to be resolved. As major platforms join the race, whether AI interactive content can reshape the short video ecosystem remains to be seen over time.
