Google has recently introduced a new "Notebooks" feature for Gemini, aiming to enhance users' ability to handle complex projects by creating a personalized "knowledge base." The launch of this feature has completely broken down the data barriers between Gemini and the AI research assistant NotebookLM, marking a key step in Google's efforts to build a closed-loop AI workflow.

Notebooks provides users with an integrated space that supports centralized management of chat records, documents, and PDFs related to specific topics. Users can import historical conversations and guide Gemini through custom instructions to generate highly targeted outputs by combining local materials, internal tools, and web searches. Thanks to the bidirectional synchronization mechanism, any data sources added in the Gemini app or NotebookLM can be shared in real time. This interoperability allows users to flexibly leverage the strengths of both platforms: for example, generating visual infographics or video summaries in NotebookLM and then switching to the Gemini app for in-depth paper outline writing. Currently, this feature is in a gray-scale testing phase and is expected to be rolled out globally in the coming weeks.

This update reflects the trend of AI assistants evolving from "general Q&A" to "deep knowledge management." By enhancing customized context logic, Google is trying to reshape Gemini into a digital intelligent agent with long-term memory and professional collaboration capabilities, further strengthening its competitive advantage in the productivity tools market.
