On the eve of the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Volkswagen Group made a big splash at the "Media Night" event by unveiling its comprehensive AI roadmap for intelligent agents. The implementation of this strategy marks that this traditional automotive giant is accelerating to shed its conventional image and officially entering a new era where "AI defines cars."
According to the disclosed blueprint, Volkswagen will begin equipping new models based on the group's CEA architecture with intelligent agent AI starting in 2026. Following that, in 2027, the next generation of CEA 2.0 architecture will be launched, offering an integrated "driving and cabin" experience and covering all vehicle power types within the brand's lineup.
In terms of deep technical research and development cooperation, Volkswagen has chosen Horizon as a core partner. At the event, both parties showcased their latest intelligent transformation achievements: through the powerful collaboration between the CEA architecture and the Horizon Journey 6 series chip, a more competitive high-end intelligent driving solution is taking shape. In addition, the upgraded AI development tool Gaia 2.0 will also be put into use, aiming to significantly improve the efficiency of software development and iteration.
Volkswagen Group stated that it will further integrate into China's local innovation ecosystem to continuously promote the development of intelligent connected mobility technology. This deep "localization" strategy clearly aims to create a more future-oriented mobility experience for global consumers in the increasingly competitive smart technology arena.
