At today's 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), the new version of Siri made its debut, becoming the center of attention. Apple announced a collaboration with Google, officially introducing the Gemini large model and adopting a new AI architecture to significantly enhance Siri's intelligence, allowing it to play a more collaborative role in various apps that users use daily.
Criticism of Industry Pragmatism
At the conference, Craig, Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, strongly criticized the current pragmatic situation in the tech industry where "AI is pursued for AI's sake." He pointed out that many companies are forcing AI into every aspect of people's lives without considering the ultimate beneficiaries of AI. True useful AI must always revolve around users and their core needs.
Craig stated that the core of the new Apple Intelligence technology lies in making Apple products more personalized and practical. Through this user-centered design philosophy, Apple aims to create a smart experience that truly solves life's pain points and improves daily efficiency.
Version Release and Regional Restrictions
In terms of service implementation, developers can now try the new version of Siri, while regular users will have to wait until later this year to get access to the Beta version of Siri AI.
It should be noted that due to differences in regional policies and regulations, this feature will not be available on iOS and iPadOS systems in the European Union at first. Similarly, in mainland China, Siri AI and other new Apple intelligence features also need to comply with local regulatory requirements, so they are not available for now.
