Google has recently made significant updates to its mobile AI applications on both Android and iOS platforms, introducing for the first time the previously desktop-only feature of searching past chat history on smartphones.
This update adds a "Search Conversations" feature at the top of the side navigation bar in the app. Users can click on the pill-shaped search box to quickly locate historical conversations by keywords in a full-screen interface. Next to the search bar, there is also a settings gear that directly takes users to the "My Activity" page. This update completely solves the pain point for mobile users who previously had to scroll endlessly through the side menu to find old records, significantly improving information retrieval efficiency.
In addition, this update has restructured and aligned the interface and features for the iOS client, implementing the design changes previewed by Google at its May I/O Developer Conference. The input box on the iOS version has been redesigned as a rounded rectangle floating above the screen, and a feature to directly upload files from the phone has been added to the "+" menu, further optimizing the document flow experience in mobile office scenarios.
Although the visual redesign and file upload shortcut are not yet widely available on Android devices, they have started being rolled out to iOS users. In the increasingly competitive landscape of generative AI applications, Google's move to bring high-frequency, deep interaction features to mobile platforms not only optimizes users' daily workflows but also marks the acceleration of AI assistants from being "single-point tools" to becoming "long-term productivity management platforms."
