Insta360 is accelerating the integration of AI into its hardware, with the core action being the addition of an AI voice assistant to its product lineup. According to media reports, this capability will first be applied to the Go Ultra series pocket camera, and it's quite "regionally sensitive": Google Gemini is used in China's Hong Kong, Macau, and overseas regions, while the Alibaba Qwen large model is integrated in mainland China. The translated results can be directly announced through the device's speaker.
The collaboration follows a "self-developed + integration with big tech models" approach. According to insiders, the AI voice assistant is primarily self-developed by Insta360, combined with the multimodal model capabilities of Alibaba Qwen. The division of labor is clear: voiceprint recognition and intent judgment are completed on the edge side, while complex tasks such as answering questions, mode switching, and translation are handled in the cloud, all managed by the internal project code-named Kira.
The Insta360 GO Ultra pocket camera was released in August last year, with a standard set price of 2598 yuan. On July 31, the official announced that the Go Ultra would receive a major update on August 5. From the poster information, "voice assistant Kira" is likely to be the main highlight of this release.
