On August 4, Google announced that the Gemini feature in Google Classroom will be available to all K-12 and higher education students of all ages starting August 10, 2026, provided that school administrators have granted the necessary permissions.
This release integrates AI directly into the learning workflow of students. Students can convert course materials into interactive learning tools such as flashcards and practice quizzes directly within the Gemini tab in Classroom, and also sync them to the Gemini Notebook to automatically generate study guides and audio summaries.
The most significant addition is the contextual guidance prompts: students can select a specific course and assignment, allowing Gemini to provide targeted support by combining the assignment requirements and syllabus—rather than general conversations, this allows students to directly feed real tasks such as "how should I write this essay this week" into the model, enabling it to offer suggestions based on the course context.
