Google has recently announced a series of new learning tools for its search engine and AI assistant Gemini, including AI-generated interactive visual content, 3D simulations, a dedicated student center, and customized practice quizzes. This initiative aims to position Gemini as the preferred AI assistant for students in their studies and exam preparations, directly competing with OpenAI and several edtech startups.

In terms of Google Search features, students can now generate custom tools and simulation visuals to understand complex topics. For example, when learning about pH values, simply searching for related keywords will provide an interactive visual chart in the AI overview, making basic concepts more intuitive. Users can also ask follow-up questions (such as "mark the position of citrus fruits on the pH scale"), and the system will create a tailored interactive experience. Additionally, by entering commands like "create a quiz of commonly tested SAT vocabulary," users can directly obtain customized practice quizzes covering science, mathematics, humanities, and foreign languages in the search bar.

In the coming weeks, the Lens feature in Google Search will also offer new interactive learning experiences. Students just need to click the camera icon in the app and upload a photo of a difficult problem, and the AI will explain the concept, point out potential errors, and provide guidance when they get stuck. Students can also upload PDFs, documents, slides, handwritten notes, and other files, allowing the search function to generate personalized learning materials such as a summary page based on the uploaded content.

For the Gemini app, Google has introduced a new feature that allows students to start multi-step research reports in Gemini Live and explore them in depth through conversation. Users can ask Gemini to research a specific topic and then close the chat window to handle other tasks; the AI will work in the background and send a notification when the report is ready. Users can then discuss the results or ask additional questions via voice. At the same time, Gemini can now generate functional 3D simulation content. For instance, by inputting "show how DNA works in 3D," users can interactively rotate and zoom in on the 3D structure on the screen.

Finally, Google has established a dedicated learning center within the Gemini app, consolidating all learning tools in one place. Users can create study notebooks, make flashcards, and participate in practice quizzes, thus obtaining a more systematic learning experience.
