Traditional music giants and leading companies in the artificial intelligence audio field have officially launched a deep collaboration. On September 10th, local time in the United States, Universal Music Group (UMG) announced an ongoing licensing agreement and broader strategic cooperation with ElevenLabs, an artificial intelligence audio research and product company. This is the first formal cooperation agreement that ElevenLabs has reached with a mainstream record company, marking a key step forward in copyright compliance and industrialization of AI music.
According to the cooperation plan announced by both parties, the two companies will jointly build a new artificial intelligence music creation platform based on licensed music and artist participation. This platform, currently under development, will offer music fans innovative ways to create music together with participating artists and songwriters. The specific features supported include music remixing, medleys, new interpretations, and personalized voice experiences. In addition, both parties plan to continue developing more related products and immersive fan experiences in the future.
Regarding the strategic significance of this collaboration, Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, stated that the most exciting possibilities of artificial intelligence in the music field lie in keeping artists, songwriters, and fans at the core. Universal Music Group and ElevenLabs both believe that responsible artificial intelligence can effectively promote music discovery, further enhance the interaction between artists and fans, and open up new revenue sources for the entire creative community. ElevenLabs' leading technical advantages in the field of artificial intelligence audio have also injected new vitality into Universal Music Group's growing partner ecosystem. Both sides will work together to explore the infinite possibilities of human artistic creation in both creative and commercial aspects.
