ByteDance has officially launched the consumer version of DouBao Mobile Assistant. With comprehensive upgrades in interaction, memory, Agent execution, and security, it is driving mobile AI from "Q&A" to "automated tasks."
In terms of interaction, the new version integrates the AI key, voice, and screen recognition. The AI key supports fingerprint authentication, and can be activated with one touch on the lock screen; long press for real-time Q&A, double tap for video calls. Voice activation supports continuous conversation (Beta). Screen recognition allows direct translation, Q&A, or adding schedules based on the current page, enabling "do while watching."
The memory capability is a highlight. After user authorization, the assistant can securely retrieve local data such as photos, SMS, and recordings; it supports manually saving screen content, which can be accurately retrieved later through natural language. Office scenarios are integrated with Feishu Miaojie, achieving voice-to-text conversion, real-time translation, and automatic summaries.
In terms of Agent execution, the consumer version retains "simulated clicks + tool calls" for cross-app operations, covering e-commerce price comparisons, music additions, and system tool integration. Multi-task support includes queuing and prioritizing, with progress viewable on the lock screen. Quick commands can trigger fixed processes, but high-risk operations such as payments still require user confirmation. Life services have also been launched, including DouBao price comparison and CaoCao Travel (initially available in Beijing and Hangzhou).
In terms of security, data is processed using a combination of terminal and cloud, following the "minimum necessary" principle; it introduced the SAEP protocol, classifying and grading Agent operations, and includes full-chain auditing. It has already obtained ISO 27001, 27701, 42001, and third-level cybersecurity certification.
DouBao Mobile Assistant continues its collaboration with ZTE/Nubia, and the compatible models will be announced officially. Industry experts believe that this version connects system permissions, memory, and automated execution, and has the potential to become a daily AI entry point, but the stability of third-party applications and authorization for sensitive operations remain challenges.
