At the Meta Connect2026 Developer Conference, Meta officially announced several major feature upgrades for its personal AI agent application Muse and opened a pre-release experience program for the public on September 25, accelerating its efforts in multimodal and edge-side AI agent development.
The latest feature updates focus on system-level control, hardware collaboration, and interaction forms. Muse introduced a digital virtual avatar with real-time video interaction capabilities and significantly expanded its shopping ecosystem partners and data connectors; on the desktop side, the Mac version of Muse will gain the ability to directly control the computer to perform complex tasks; in terms of hardware integration, Muse has fully integrated into the Meta AI smart glasses product line, supporting instant interaction through wake-up words and voice commands.
In terms of testing strategy, Meta broke away from the industry's common closed beta or random A/B testing model, adopting a "Prompt Trigger" mechanism: the official provided application prompt words on social platforms, and users could directly send corresponding requests in Muse to register for the queue. This approach aims to prioritize identifying highly engaged, heavy users of various AI agents, leveraging the sensitivity and multi-tool usage habits of power users to obtain high-quality feedback at an early stage of model iteration.
As major technology giants compete comprehensively in the AI agent field, Meta's latest move of enabling access to desktop-level operating permissions and smart wearable devices demonstrates its strategic intent to evolve AI agents from a single chat window into cross-device, cross-system, round-the-clock assistants.
