In response to the abuse of AI technology to alter and deconstruct classic content, the WeChat platform recently announced special governance results, having removed more than 26,000 AI-modified short videos. This move aims to maintain a healthy cultural dissemination order and curb the practice of gaining traffic without any ethical limits.
The violations severely mislead the public
Among the removed content, many creators have used low-barrier AI generation tools to maliciously distort and vulgarly mock classic characters and plots from the Four Great Classical Novels. In addition, some videos also involve terrorizing or subverting well-known historical figures, exemplary heroes, and animated characters familiar to minors, seriously misleading minors' values.
Maintaining a Clear Online Space through Long-term Governance
The WeChat platform stated that it will continue to implement long-term governance mechanisms, further enhance its ability to identify and handle violations, and strictly punish违规 content and accounts. At the same time, the platform calls on all creators to strengthen industry self-discipline and jointly create a clear online space.
