Perplexity AI has announced a partnership with Motorola to pre-install its AI assistant and question-answering engine on the next generation of Motorola smartphones. Perplexity AI calls this collaboration one of the "most comprehensive" integrations with a phone brand to date.

This integration will allow users to access Perplexity's features on the external screen of Motorola's Razr foldable phones, even when folded. Beyond information retrieval, the Perplexity assistant can also help users with tasks like making restaurant reservations. Users can simply type "Ask Perplexity" into Moto AI to access Perplexity's services and explore topics further through relevant questions.

Perplexity AI stated that this partnership will significantly expand its user base, bringing its search and assistant capabilities to millions of new users. In their press release, Perplexity AI noted: "This fundamentally changes the relationship between user and device; your phone is now a personal assistant, answering machine, and research assistant all in one, at your service."

Motorola, in its press release, highlighted that the next-generation smartphones with integrated Perplexity AI enhanced search capabilities will offer users powerful tools. Whether checking upcoming concert dates or researching a next vacation destination, users can choose to "Explore with Perplexity" for a deeper dive into a topic and leverage Perplexity's robust search capabilities for deeper connections.

Furthermore, Motorola stated that the new smartphones will also integrate AI features from Google, Meta, and Microsoft, offering users a variety of choices. A Google executive testified in court that the upcoming Motorola phones will feature Perplexity AI, Microsoft, and several Google AI applications to demonstrate the marketplace diversity of options.

As early as April 16th, Perplexity reported partnerships with Motorola and Samsung, planning to integrate its AI assistant into these companies' devices. Notably, Perplexity completed a $500 million funding round late last year, tripling its valuation to $9 billion.
