Microsoft recently announced that it will build a second AI data center in Wisconsin, USA, with an investment of up to 4 billion dollars. This investment is an important step in Microsoft's continuous expansion in the data center field, marking its emphasis on artificial intelligence technology and confidence in future development.

Brad Smith, Microsoft's President and Vice Chairman, revealed that the new data center will be located in Mount Pleasant and is expected to be equipped with hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GB200 chips. These high-performance chips will provide powerful computing capabilities for AI model operations, thereby supporting complex AI training and inference workloads.

During the construction of the new data center, Microsoft also plans to build a solar power plant about 240 kilometers to the northwest, to ensure the energy needs of the data center. This power plant will provide 250 megawatts of electricity, while the total power demand of the two data centers is expected to exceed 900 megawatts. This move not only demonstrates Microsoft's efforts in green energy, but also reflects its comprehensive consideration of future technology infrastructure.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confidently stated on social media: "This data center will be the most powerful AI data center in the world, with performance ten times that of the fastest supercomputer in the world today." He emphasized that Microsoft has designed data centers, GPU clusters, and networks as an integrated system, ensuring that it can run at an exponential scale on thousands of GPUs from the start of the project.

According to the information, Microsoft has already invested 3.3 billion dollars in this project, and the first data center is expected to be put into use at the beginning of 2026. These new facilities will provide strong support for Microsoft's technological innovation and market competitiveness in the AI field.
