The competition in the field of AI search is becoming increasingly fierce. After expanding the AI mode feature to 180 countries around the world in August this year, Google announced on Tuesday that its AI-powered search experience will now be officially available to Spanish-speaking users. This move means that hundreds of millions of Spanish-speaking users around the globe will be able to experience a more interactive and immersive way of searching.
Google's AI mode aims to provide a new search experience where users can ask questions using natural language, just like having a conversation with someone, and receive two-way feedback. Additionally, it allows users to query by uploading images. It can also help users explore complex topics more deeply, making the search process more efficient and intelligent.
Before this expansion into the Spanish market, Google's AI mode was mainly targeted at users in the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. In the update in August, Google also introduced advanced features for Google AI Ultra subscribers, allowing them to directly book restaurants under AI mode, and plans to support booking tickets for other activities in the future.
At the same time, Google is rapidly integrating artificial intelligence across all its product lines. For example, the company announced on Tuesday that it will offer conversational photo editing features to all Android users in the United States. Additionally, the Google AI Plus subscription plan, which was previously launched in Indonesia, has now been expanded to an additional 40 countries.
While Google is actively expanding its presence, its main competitor OpenAI is also taking active steps. OpenAI recently launched the ChatGPT Go plan as a mid-tier option between its free version and the $20-per-month ChatGPT Plus premium package. This plan was launched in India in August and was released in Indonesia on Tuesday. According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Go users use features such as asking questions, generating images, and uploading files ten times more than free users, and they are better at remembering previous conversations, thus providing more personalized responses.
To avoid confusion among users, Google has also clearly explained the difference between AI mode and AI overview. AI mode is an independent, immersive conversational experience where users can interact directly with Gemini AI. AI overview, on the other hand, only provides a quick information summary generated by artificial intelligence at the top of traditional Google search result pages.
