Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella recently announced that he will transfer some of his business responsibilities to a newly appointed CEO, allowing him and the company's engineering team to focus more on artificial intelligence-related technological work. In an internal letter shared with employees, Nadella stated that Judson Althoff, the current head of Microsoft's global sales organization, will serve as the chief executive officer for the expanded business operations.
Additionally, Microsoft's marketing team will be integrated into the new structure, with Althoff serving as the chief marketing officer. In certain business areas, Althoff will continue to report to Nadella. Microsoft's operations organization will report to Althoff, and the newly established business leadership team will also be led by Althoff. Nadella mentioned that this business leadership team will be responsible for driving the company's product strategy, governance, market readiness, and sales processes to ensure Microsoft's accountability in meeting the rigorous standards and execution excellence expected by its customers.
Through these changes, Nadella and the engineering team will be able to focus more on Microsoft's "highest technological ambitions," including data center construction, system architecture, artificial intelligence science, and product innovation. He said, "Everyone needs to do their best in quickly learning new skills, adopting new ways of working, and closely pushing the innovation across the entire technology stack. This is not just evolution, but a re-creation of everyone's career and Microsoft as a whole."
