In the new era driven by AI and 5G-A, where computing power is surging, network infrastructure is undergoing profound transformation. Recently, in the third "IPv6 Technology Application Innovation Competition," Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei jointly submitted the project "IPv6+ Empowers AI WAN New Connection, SPN Drives Intelligent Development of Industries." With its forward-looking architecture and practical results, the project won the first prize in the AI WAN category and the second national prize, becoming a benchmark case for operators and equipment vendors collaborating to promote network intelligence upgrades.
SPN + AI + IPv6+: Building a Deterministic Network for the AI Era
Facing strict requirements for ultra-low latency, high reliability, and high bandwidth in scenarios such as large model training, edge intelligence, and industrial control, traditional network architectures face bottlenecks. Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei have innovatively proposed a three-layer integrated architecture based on SPN (Slicing Packet Network):
- Physical layer MESH networking: Breaking the traditional star topology to achieve multi-path redundancy and flexible expansion;
- Network layer deterministic slicing: Allocating dedicated network slices for AI traffic through IPv6+ technology to ensure key business SLA;
- Application layer AI intelligent management: Introducing AI algorithms for traffic prediction, path optimization, and fault self-healing.
The solution has been tested to reduce end-to-end latency by 40%, improve fault identification efficiency by 90%, and achieve an operation automation rate of over 85%, significantly enhancing the network's ability to support AI workloads.
Intelligent Operation System: From "Passive Response" to "Proactive Prevention"
The project also developed an AI-driven intelligent management system, which includes:
- Second-level fault location: Accurately identifying link degradation using network digital twin and anomaly detection models;
- Adaptive optimization: Dynamically adjusting slice resources according to business load;
- Predictive maintenance: Proactively warning about potential risks to minimize service interruptions.
In a pilot project at a smart manufacturing park in Zhejiang, the system successfully supported the synchronized collaboration of hundreds of industrial robots, achieving a deterministic network experience with "zero packet loss" and "microsecond-level jitter."
Heading Toward Large-Scale Promotion: Building the "New Foundation" of the Digital Economy
Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei stated that in the next step, they will expand this solution to key industries such as power, transportation, finance, and healthcare, promoting the evolution of SPN networks from "connection pipelines" to "intelligent service hubs." At the same time, both parties are actively participating in the formulation of international standards for IPv6+ and SPN, helping Chinese technical solutions go global.
AIbase Observation: Network Intelligence is the "Hidden Foundation" for AI Implementation
While the industry focuses on large models and chips, the practice of Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei reveals a crucial truth: even the most powerful AI cannot do without a "smart, reliable, and deterministic" network.
Against the backdrop of the "East Data West Transmission" and the accelerated implementation of "AI + Industry," the integration of SPN and IPv6+ is becoming a core pillar of China's intelligent infrastructure. This network revolution led by operators may be the true foundation supporting the trillion-dollar AI economy.
