With the core model upgrade, OpenAI is undergoing significant strategic retrenchment and organizational restructuring. Fidji Simo's product department has officially been renamed "AGI Deployment," aiming to accelerate the transition of technology into practical applications. To ensure computing power supply for "Spud" and other priority projects, OpenAI has decided to shut down its iconic video generation application Sora, marking the company's shift from resource-intensive creative tools to high-output productivity tools.
Currently, OpenAI is facing strong competition from Anthropic, which has already gained a market advantage with enterprise-oriented agent systems like Claude Code. To address this, OpenAI plans to build a desktop-level "super app" based on the "Spud" architecture, integrating ChatGPT, coding agent Codex, and browser Atlas.
