As the first major technology transfer project in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics at Westlake University, Westlake Robotics has recently seen dual acceleration from capital and technology. Within just six months, the company has completed four rounds of financing, with a total amount reaching 500 million Chinese yuan. The latest round, Series A financing, was led by Haiyuan Capital with nearly 100 million yuan raised. The funds will mainly be invested in the research and development of a unified large model for humanoid robots, as well as the construction of a talent cultivation base.
Under the leadership of its founder, Professor Wang Donglin, a lifetime professor at Westlake University, and co-founder Zhang Yue, the core team has gathered outstanding talents from top companies and universities. The company adheres to a full-stack self-research and development technology route, aiming to connect the three core components of embodied AGI. Currently, Westlake Robotics has launched its original self-developed GAE "Avatar" system, which has completed adaptation verification for multiple bipedal humanoid robots and has also initiated joint deployment with several leading manufacturers.
At the beginning of this year, the humanoid robot "Westlake o1," equipped with the GAE system, was officially launched. It possesses excellent autonomous movement decision-making capabilities. In terms of hardware, the robot uses self-developed joints, folding, and modular design, allowing it to flexibly adapt to various application scenarios. With solid technical capabilities, the company has established deep cooperation with industry giants such as Alibaba and Intel, securing orders worth nearly 100 million yuan. Its business scope covers areas such as scientific research and teaching. In the future, Westlake Robotics will also collaborate with the Longyou government to build a training base and plans to gradually expand its mature solutions to broader scenarios such as high-risk industrial inspections.
