Forbes has officially released the 8th edition of the Global AI 50 list, highlighting the most promising non-public artificial intelligence companies around the world. In this highly anticipated list, 20 new faces have made it to the ranking, showing that the AI sector continues to maintain strong innovation vitality.
Looking at the funding scale, the "money-gathering" effect of industry leaders has reached an unprecedented height. OpenAI and Anthropic, two leading companies, have raised a total of 242.6 billion US dollars in funding, which accounts for about 80% of the total funding of the 50 listed companies (305.6 billion US dollars). This high concentration of capital reflects the extreme demand for funds in top-tier model development, as well as the market's firm bet on the leading group.

Besides the financial frenzy, the power landscape of the AI industry has also undergone profound restructuring over the past year. Several capable startups have transformed their identities in 2025, with some being directly acquired by big companies, while others have been indirectly incorporated into large tech firms through "talent acquisition."
Among them, Alexandr Wang, co-founder and CEO of Scale AI, chose to move to Meta, taking charge of its newly established super-intelligent laboratory, marking the trend of top talent flowing into traditional tech giants. Meanwhile, Elon Musk's xAI completed a merger with SpaceX, and the merged entity's valuation soared to 1.25 trillion US dollars, becoming an unshakable giant in the industry.
Examples of technical integration are also emerging frequently. Google spent 2.4 billion US dollars to acquire the core team of the AI programming startup Windsurf and obtained related technology licenses. Interestingly, the remaining assets of Windsurf were subsequently acquired by Cognition, a programming intelligent entity company that made its debut on the list this year with a valuation of 10 billion US dollars. This complex web of mergers and acquisitions reveals the intense competition and rapid integration in the field of artificial intelligence at the level of underlying technologies and application tools.
