AI Law Firm Moritz recently announced that it successfully raised a $9 million seed round in just four days before graduating from Y Combinator. This round was led by Y Combinator, Urban Innovation Fund, 20VC, and Inception Fund, and attracted top tech investors including Reddit, founders of Runway, and employees of OpenAI. Moritz was co-founded by former OpenAI legal counsel Pamir Essas and machine learning engineer Stefan Mandaric, and aims to reshape the traditional legal service system using AI technology.

Different from traditional legal software providers like Harvey or Legora, Moritz has undergone a strategic shift from "selling software" to "directly providing legal services." Its core business model uses self-developed software to deeply assist experienced lawyers, enabling efficient drafting and review of high-value contracts across companies.

Data shows that Moritz has processed contracts involving 100 companies with a total value of $2 billion over the past three months. In terms of pricing strategy, the company has completely abandoned the traditional law firm "hourly billing" model, adopting instead a transparent fixed rate: small business clients pay per task (e.g., $500 for a work invitation), while large enterprises enjoy tiered pricing for single contract reviews ranging from $500 to $700.
