Microsoft's professional social platform LinkedIn has recently introduced new management measures, deciding to crack down on the rampant AI-generated low-quality content on the platform. With the popularity of generative artificial intelligence, a large number of career articles lacking insightful perspectives and mechanically repeating existing views have spread across the platform, seriously affecting the user experience.
To address this issue, LinkedIn's engineering team and internal editorial team have established close collaboration. The two teams will build a new user activity analysis model to accurately identify which content is mechanical and valueless spam posts, and take appropriate handling measures.
Identify Empty Jargon and Remove from Recommendation Feed
In terms of specific identification criteria, LinkedIn will focus on intercepting posts and comments that clearly show signs of AI generation. According to the official statement, overly obvious interaction诱导, repetitive packaging of thought leader statements, and typical meaningless expressions such as "This is not X, but Y" will be included in the list of targets for crackdowns.
Once content is identified as AI-generated low-quality garbage information, LinkedIn will take direct measures to limit its distribution and will no longer recommend it to other users through the public timeline. However, to maintain the social nature of the platform, the post's direct followers and contacts can still see the relevant content in their personal feeds.
Encouraging Original Ideas Is Not a One-Size-Fits-All Approach
In response to industry concerns about a "one-size-fits-all" approach, LinkedIn officials clarified during an interview with a technology media outlet that the company does not outright oppose users using AI tools for creative assistance. The core target of this cleanup campaign is solely those shallow, empty "low-value" articles.
LinkedIn's management emphasized that as long as the user's article contains unique original ideas or can spark meaningful in-depth discussions within the industry, it is acceptable to use AI tools for daily polishing and efficiency improvement. The platform always welcomes high-quality content that truly adds value to the professional community.
