At the recently concluded WWDC2026 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple officially infused powerful AI capabilities into its Photos app. With deep integration of Apple Intelligence, this daily image management tool has undergone a major upgrade, aiming to completely change how users edit and adjust photos through generative AI technology.

The most notable feature in this update is the new "Reframe" function. In daily photography, we often leave regrets due to improper framing: for example, the lens captured an extra sign above the subject's head, or missed a natural moment of eye contact. Now, with the AI-powered Reframe tool, users can simply drag and adjust the perspective of the photo, as if repositioning the camera back to the ideal spot at the scene. This process supports real-time preview, and the blurred areas that appear during adjustment are automatically filled by Apple's generative model, ensuring the overall integrity and seamless integration with the original scene.

Aside from Reframe, the new "Extend" tool is also highly practical. It helps users easily stretch the image, giving more breathing space for the subject, or correcting a tilted horizon to a straight line without cutting off important details. Users can simply pinch, zoom, or crop to let AI intelligently extend the scene, making the composition instantly professional.

In addition, the highly praised "Cleanup" tool has also received an algorithm upgrade. When dealing with annoying distractions in the image, users can now more accurately select them by clicking, brushing, or circling. Thanks to the optimization of generative AI in the underlying logic, the quality of the filled areas after cleanup is higher, and the transition is more natural, almost leaving no trace of editing.
