xAI launched Imagine Image 2.0, a new quality mode for the Web-based Imagine service and iOS and Android apps under Grok, focusing on creative scenarios that require controllable layout, clear fonts, and consistent visual elements. The model's API access plan is currently being developed but has not been officially released yet.
xAI stated that Image 2.0 can understand complex instructions, complete font and layout planning in dense compositions, and maintain clarity of small text. At the same time, the model supports multi-turn generation and editing, preserving user-specified visual elements during repeated adjustments. Its editing tools support precise selection of image areas through the magic wand and segmentation features, enabling local modifications without affecting other parts. It also supports background removal, export of transparent images, and the ability to generate a single image combining up to five reference images, reducing manual synthesis costs in complex visual creation.
In addition, Image 2.0 introduces an intelligent resizing feature that can expand images to specified frame sizes, supporting ratios from 1:2 to 9:16, as well as square, horizontal, and 2:1 formats. xAI also introduced template workflows for repetitive creative tasks, covering scenarios such as photo editing, product color adjustment, e-commerce images, professional avatars, icons, character sprites, emojis, and product design.
In video planning scenarios, the relevant templates can help users generate characters, scenes, and props separately while maintaining a consistent visual style, thus building a continuous and consistent content world.
