OPPO announced yesterday a collaboration with AI agent platform Manus, integrating the latter's agent capabilities into its own AI Mind Pilot, allowing the phone to move from "answering questions" to "accomplishing tasks." Tang Kai, President of OPPO's Software Engineering, pointed out the key shift: AI agents are no longer limited to responding but understand intent, perform actions, and deliver results. Zhang Tao, co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Manus, described that smartphones carry a massive amount of daily tasks, making them the most natural platform for personal AI agents to be applied.

The practical implementation of this collaboration is embedding Manus' capabilities into the new agent mode of AI Mind Pilot, first introduced in the OPPO Find X10 series preloaded with ColorOS 17. Instead of being limited to simple Q&A, it understands users' ultimate goals, automatically breaks tasks into multiple steps, retrieves information, selects tools, and delivers complete results, even directly accessing the device's files and photos. For example, when planning a trip, you just need to say "organize the travel plan," and it will gather scattered flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and tickets from various apps, combine them with online information to generate a daily schedule; in office creation, one instruction can organize travel photos, locate a specific image, or combine local and online materials to produce a ready-to-use PPT, proposal, or portfolio.
Privacy Protection on the Device, Asking You First in the Cloud
Privacy arrangements are another selling point of this approach: ColorOS 17 uses on-device models to complete understanding and organization, keeping the original content of local tasks such as file searching and renaming within the device and not sending it to Manus. If the task requires cloud usage, AI Mind Pilot will only upload after obtaining the user's explicit permission. OPPO and Manus emphasize that users can decide which information can be accessed and which operations can be performed, and whether external processing is allowed—by combining on-device computing with transparent authorization, they tie "smarter" with "controllable." The AI Mind Pilot supported by Manus will debut on the Find X10 series first.
