Ant Group has officially entered into a strategic cooperation with Peking University Third Hospital (PUMC), establishing an AI Medical Joint Innovation Laboratory. This in-depth industry-academia-research collaboration will integrate the clinical diagnostic advantages of top hospitals with the professional large model capabilities of leading technology platforms, promoting the development of AI medical applications towards greater professionalism, credibility, and practicality.
The joint laboratory's initial focus will be on major disease areas such as colorectal cancer, endocrinology, and assisted reproduction. It will strive to overcome challenges in AI-assisted diagnostic decision-making and the development of patient service systems. Through multi-department collaboration, it will conduct research and application studies on medical multimodal large models and AI-assisted clinical diagnosis technologies, helping doctors achieve precise treatment for complex diseases and improving patients' cure rates and accessibility to post-treatment management.
Dr. Fu Wei, President of PUMC, said: "We hope that the work of the joint laboratory will accelerate the transformation of AI research results in the healthcare industry into clinical applications. By using innovative methods, we aim to solve difficult issues in clinical diagnosis and treatment, providing patients with more accurate and efficient medical services, and offering the industry a replicable model for industry-academia-research collaboration."
Notably, both parties have simultaneously launched the development of the PUMC Intelligent Agent project. This project is expected to be launched on the AI Health Assistant AQ platform, providing full-process AI companionship services to patients of PUMC, effectively equipping each patient with a dedicated AI medical assistant.
This innovative measure will fundamentally optimize the patient experience, improve the efficiency of medical services, and provide a replicable and scalable practice path for smart hospital construction. Patients will receive professional guidance and caring services from AI assistants throughout the entire process, from appointment booking to post-treatment management.
Liu Junwei, General Manager of Ant Group's AI Healthcare, said: "Making medical care and treatment simpler for the general public is also one of Ant's important visions. Ant will leverage its medical large model technology and the AQ platform's ecosystem advantages, adhering to long-termism, to better serve patients, doctors, and hospitals."
This collaboration reflects the deep integration between technology companies and top medical institutions in the field of AI healthcare. By integrating both parties' core strengths in clinical practice and technological innovation, it is expected to explore a more mature model for the implementation of AI medical applications, driving the intelligent transformation and upgrading of the entire healthcare industry.
