On Wednesday, the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee (LA28) announced that Google would become the official cloud service provider for the games and join LA28 as a founding partner—a private nonprofit organization responsible for organizing the Olympics. According to the agreement, the collaboration will also extend to the United States Olympic Committee (Team USA) and NBCUniversal, the official broadcast partner of the games.

This collaboration will leverage Google's cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. LA28 stated that during the games, the infrastructure of Google Cloud and the Gemini large model, as well as the new feature "AI Mode" that will be launched by Google Search, will be used to provide spectators with a smarter viewing experience. Spectators can quickly access real-time information such as game data, schedules, and athlete performances through AI on NBCUniversal's multi-platform live broadcasts.

In addition, Google's AI technology will also be used to optimize the operations and organization of LA28, from event planning, venue management to data analysis, bringing a higher level of digitalization and intelligence to this Olympic Games.

Casey Wasserman, Chair and President of LA28, said: "We want to create an Olympic event that is technologically advanced, interactive, and digitally accessible. Google's products and innovation will help spectators navigate venues more conveniently and keep up with the latest developments in the games, truly making technology serve sports and spectators."
