Meta has officially launched a new "AI Mode" search feature on the Facebook platform today, aiming to change how users access information and interact with the platform through generative AI technology, further accelerating its pace in the AI field. The feature is powered by Meta AI technology, which can extract and integrate information directly from public posts across the entire platform, including Facebook groups and Reels videos, providing users with comprehensive text answers through natural language interaction, thereby revolutionizing the traditional scrolling-based search experience.

Previously, Meta quietly launched a social application called Forum last month, similar to Reddit, which includes an AI "questioning" feature based on group discussions. However, whether it's the "AI Mode" or Forum, such models that rely on massive user-generated content (UGC) for AI summaries have raised widespread concerns about the accuracy, timeliness, and potential misleading risks of information, echoing the previous controversy when Google introduced Reddit data into its search results.

In addition to the search upgrade, Meta has been intensively rolling out multi-dimensional AI capabilities around Facebook recently. On the content creation side, the platform has added an AI editing tool that supports video collages and transitions, as well as AI photo presets that allow virtual changes in clothing, hairstyles, and accessories (such as the "AI Edit" in Stories and the AI "Closet" on profile pages).

At the same time, combining the dynamic avatar feature launched in February, the Marketplace automatic reply tool launched in March, and the personalized AI assistant introduced at the beginning of this month for creators, Meta's AI matrix has comprehensively covered users, merchants, and creators. These recent actions not only aim to enhance platform stickiness and practicality in the short term but also reveal Meta's deeper strategy for diversified monetization. With the recent launch of a global multi-platform subscription plan starting at $3.99 per month, more advanced AI-integrated subscription packages are poised to come soon.
