August 11 report, TVB Group Limited (TVB) announced a voluntary notice, stating that the company has signed a framework agreement with an affiliated company of Capital Group, Triton Square Limited, to establish a joint venture to provide advanced AI-related computing power services in Hong Kong.

According to the agreement, the ordinary voting shares of the joint venture are expected to be held by TVB and Capital Group at 51% and 49%, respectively. The project will build new computing facilities in TVB's industrial park in Tseung Kwan O, procure, deploy, and operate core computing equipment such as GPUs and CPUs, and provide advanced computing power services to external third-party customers and group member companies through an order-based model.

The announcement states that the project is planned to be implemented in stages over the coming years, with funding sources including up to HKD 2 billion in equity investment from Capital Group to the joint venture, project bank financing, and internal group resources. The first phase, Phase 1A, aims for a computing capacity of approximately 10,000 PetaFLOPS, with plans to start operations in the fourth quarter of 2027.

With the rapid development of generative AI, large model training, and intelligent applications, computing infrastructure has become an important support for the AI industry competition. In recent years, Hong Kong has continuously promoted the construction of the AI ecosystem and strengthened its supercomputing and computing infrastructure layout. (Government of Hong Kong)

This collaboration between TVB and Capital Group marks the entry of traditional media companies into the AI infrastructure field through industrial space and capital resources, reflecting that AI computing power services are attracting more cross-industry capital participation.
