Xiaohongshu's official account "Shu Guanjia" released the "Announcement on the Governance of False Content Made by AI in Medical Beauty, Accommodation and Other Fields" on September 3, announcing that AI-generated false content will be comprehensively included in routine governance. It will crack down on behaviors such as using AI to splice or generate images to fabricate real scenes and invent experiences that mislead users.
This special governance focuses on high-risk areas such as cultural tourism accommodation, medical beauty, education, and real estate. It will thoroughly clean up behaviors such as AI-generated homogenized notes and fabricated personal experiences. At the same time, it will add detection strategies to strictly control unmarked AI content and repeated use of materials across accounts.

Data shows that from June to August this year, Xiaohongshu has cleaned up nearly 120,000 AI-generated false notes. It has also removed typical violations such as AI-generated false medical beauty experiences, AI-generated false accommodation images and texts, and fabricated educational backgrounds promoting teaching aids. Relevant violating accounts have been severely handled. As a key area for governance, the medical beauty sector saw over 4,000 violating notes removed daily during this period, with more than 4,200 violating accounts banned in total.
Amid the rapid reduction in content production barriers brought by Generative AI technology, the prevalence of false experiences is seriously eroding the authenticity and user trust of UGC communities. While clearly encouraging AI-assisted creation, Xiaohongshu has set application boundaries through three mechanisms: detailed scenario management, inventory cleanup, and dynamic detection. This governance initiative not only reflects the platform's comprehensive upgrade in compliance regulation of generative AI content but also provides an industry example for the healthy development and trust rebuilding of the content ecosystem in the AI era.
