Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus has officially announced a multi-year strategic partnership with OpenAI. According to the agreement, OpenAI will purchase dedicated AI computing power from two of Firmus' AI factories located in Malaysia and will officially become its anchor customer. With the successful implementation of this collaboration, the total computing capacity that Firmus has signed so far has exceeded 900 megawatts.
Multi-location Deployment and Advanced Hardware Configuration
Firmus currently operates 7 AI factories across four countries: Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Among these, 2 factories are already operational, while 5 are under construction and are scheduled to be launched in service within the next 24 months.
In terms of technical hardware, these new AI factories will fully deploy NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 systems, as well as NVIDIA DSX AI Factory platforms and Firmus' self-developed HyperCube liquid-cooling infrastructure. OpenAI stated that the newly built data center in Malaysia will provide strong support, effectively meeting the growing product and business demands in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
