Recently, author ElfeXu experimented with using GPT-3 for the creation of micro-novels, experiencing a collaborative approach between human and machine that yielded positive results. He first had GPT-3 list 10 everyday yet profound novel themes, which he then selected from. During the creative process, he set the framework for the novel, allowing GPT-3 to take on the roles of different authors for a creative relay. Humans could intervene and make choices throughout the process. Afterward, humans provided feedback and GPT-3 executed these modifications to refine the novel. Although the author was not entirely satisfied with the final product, he discovered that AI played the role of a sailor in the creative process, providing significant assistance. He plans to have AI generate fragments in the future, which humans will then select and assemble to produce better long-form novel works.
